Originally, the Savanna Estate, located in Saint-Paul at the foot of the majestic mountains of Réunion, was established as a sugar factory in the early 19th century. The Savanna distillery, on the other hand, was founded a little later, thanks to the ambition and expertise of Émile Hugot between 1948 and 1950. This former student of the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris became an iconic and international figure in the sugar industry. From 1982, a strategic contract allowed the Savanna distillery to elevate the quality of its rums to the premium segment, earning it the distinction of being the first European distillery certified ISO 9002, a guarantee of impeccable quality and exceptional know-how.
This Savanna 10-year-old Grand Arôme Herr Japan Tribute aged rum from 2007 has benefited from meticulous aging in French oak barrel No. 218, ensuring perfect balance and intense aromatic richness. This Cask Strength, powerful and concentrated in aromatic molecules, embodies the spirit of Herr, an acronym for High Ester Rhum Réunion, referring to a Réunion rum with a high concentration of esters, true complex and distinctive olfactory notes. The result of a rigorous selection orchestrated by the cellar master, this limited edition comes from a particularly high-quality batch, carefully bottled in only 761 units of 50cl, making each bottle unique and precious for exceptional rum enthusiasts.
