Hontambère - RAC Spirits - Armagnac Ténarèze - 2008 - Colombard - Single Cask #C1 - 53.3%
Nestled in Castelnau d'Auzan, in the heart of the Ténarèze region, the Hontambère distillery embodies the heritage and modernity of Armagnac . Founded by Cindy Crighton (director) and Sylvain Lafargue (distiller and cellar master), the house cultivates the four emblematic grape varieties of the terroir: Ugni Blanc, Baco, Folle Blanche and Colombard. The eau-de-vie, distilled on site in a century-old Armagnac still, comes exclusively from the estate's vineyard. A true player in the artisanal scene, Hontambère is both an independent producer and bottler. Its collection also includes rare batches from other emblematic houses, such as the renowned Pouchégu distillery. Today, more than 550 barrels rest in the property's cellars, living witnesses to a tradition rooted in time.
This Single Cask #C1 was distilled in December 2008 from Colombard , then aged for 17 years in a dry cellar. Bottled at 53.3% cask strength, there are only 200 examples of this precious Armagnac.
" From the start, a striking liveliness: candied citrus fruits and orange peel mingle with the delicacy of ripe plums. The heart of the palate deploys a spicy sweetness, supported by a fine, precise woodiness, without ever dominating. On the finish, a saline tension prolongs the experience, revealing the mineral signature of dry chai — a rare balance between energy and depth."
