BARBANCOURT - Reserve of the estate - 15 years old x Limited Edition Bar 1802 - Islay Finish - 46.7%
Barbancourt is a brand of rum, produced in Haiti by La Société du Rhum Barbancourt SA The Société du Rhum Barbancourt was founded in 1862 by Dupré Barbancourt , a native of Charente in France, who used for his rum the double-distillation technique used for cognac and aging in Limousin oak barrels. In 1949, the distillery was transferred to the middle of the cane fields of Domaine Barbancourt in the Cul-de-Sac plain. From 1952, the factory began to produce rums from sugar cane grown on its own plantation, from pure sugar cane juice according to an ancestral method that has been passed down from generation to generation for more than 160 years.
To celebrate its 160th anniversary, Barbancourt joins forces with Bar 1802 for a unique collaboration. This edition is the first rum from the distillery to have been refined. It is first aged for 15 years in Cognac barrels , then 6 months in Bourbon barrels and finally for a few weeks in a barrel that has contained peated whiskey from the Isle of Islay .
