OCTOMORE - 13.2 - 2022 Edition - 58.3%
The Bruichladdich Distillery, iconic and historic, is located on the exceptional island of Islay, in the heart of the wild landscapes of Scotland. It is renowned for producing exceptional Single Malt whiskies under three prestigious labels: Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore. Additionally, it also produces the famous The Botanist Gin, appreciated by refined spirits enthusiasts. Founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, this distillery has a rich history marked by family conflicts and dramatic events, including a fire in 1934 and the disappearance of William Harvey in 1936. Despite several ownership changes over the decades, it was unfortunately closed in 1994. However, a spectacular revival took place in 2000 when Bruichladdich was purchased by a group of visionary investors led by Mark Reynier of Murray McDavid, also known today for his Waterford whiskeys in Ireland. The distillery was then completely dismantled and rebuilt, while preserving valuable Victorian equipment; it operates using a gravity-fed production system, without computerized processes, true to authentic craftsmanship. Since 2012, Bruichladdich has belonged to the renowned Rémy Cointreau group. The distillery places great importance on carefully selecting the origin of its Scottish barley, a key element that directly influences the quality and uniqueness of its whiskies.
The Bruichladdich range offers remarkably pure non-peated Single Malts. In contrast, heavily peated expressions are marketed under the distinct name Port Charlotte, while the exclusive Octomore series offers the most heavily peated whiskies in the world with exceptionally high phenol levels, making it an essential reference for lovers of powerful and complex whiskies.
Octomore 13.2 was distilled in 2016 from Scottish Concerto barley harvested in 2015. This exceptional Single Malt matured for 5 years in precious Oloroso Sherry casks from the renowned Bodega Fernando de Castilla, bringing richness and aromatic depth to this unique whisky.
Peated at 137.3 ppm (parts per million)
