Quinta do Portal is an exceptional winery located in the heart of the prestigious Douro valley, in Portugal. This historic estate stands out for the quality of its Douro wines, its Port wines, its Muscat (Moscatel), as well as its extra virgin olive oil. A completely family-owned and independent company, Quinta do Portal was established in the early 1990s on the legendary Quinta dos Muros, operated by the famous Mansilha family for over a hundred years and where Port wine has been produced for four generations. The vineyards of Quinta do Portal are managed according to sustainable agriculture, committed to preserving the ecosystem of the Douro region. In May 2022, the estate took a new step in energy transition by installing photovoltaic panels supplying 50% of the property's electricity needs. Additionally, during the harvest, the naturally generated CO2 is recovered and valorized during fermentation to inert the lagares and tanks, thus reducing the ecological footprint.
The 29 Grapes Ruby Reserve embodies the richness of the traditional grape varieties emblematic of the Douro, notably Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, and Touriga Nacional. Its vinification is halted by the meticulous addition of grape spirit, thus ensuring a refined sweetness with a residual sugar content between 80 and 120 g/L. The aging is carefully carried out in old wooden barrels for about four years, offering this Ruby Reserve Port a magnificent aromatic complexity, beautiful intensity, and great elegance.
