MASAM - Silvano Samaroli Collection - Bruichladdich 18 years old - Vintage 2002 - Single Cask - Bottled in 2020 - 53.3%
Masam refers to Maryse Samaroli, wife of Silvano Samaroli. Born in Bologna, Italy, Silvano Samaroli, the iconic founder of the house, began his activity in 1968 by selecting and bottling some of the best whiskies in the world. From the start, he was the only independent non-British bottler, which gives remarkable authenticity and originality to his productions. In the 1990s, Samaroli extended his expertise to the world of rum: he traveled to the best distilleries and brought his casks back to Scotland, benefiting from a temperate climate that favors slow and harmonious aging. In 2008, Antonio Bleve, a long-time collaborator sharing Silvano's philosophy and passion, took over and gave new momentum to the house. With a community of whisky and rum experts, Antonio continues the quest for exceptional casks through a historic network strengthened by innovative encounters. The Samaroli house also excels in the art of blending, finely mixing the elegance of aged spirits with the liveliness of younger ones, notably through finishing in new casks that bring depth and complexity, far beyond classic Single Malts. Each Single Malt and rum in Single Cask offered by the house is selected for its unique character and exceptional profile. Each Samaroli bottle is carefully numbered, indicating the year of cask filling, the year of bottling, and the limited edition, thus guaranteeing its exclusivity and perfect traceability.
This rare edition was distilled in 2002 at the Bruichladdich Distillery, located on the island of Islay, Scotland, a region renowned for its peated whiskies and great aromatic richness. This prestigious whisky was bottled in 2020, after 18 years of aging offering deep aromatic complexity and a beautiful structure on the palate.
