The Glen Grant distillery is located in Rothes, in the heart of the prestigious Speyside region in Scotland, renowned for its exceptional whiskies. Founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, two former distillers and illegal smugglers who managed to turn their passion into a legal business by obtaining an official distillation license, this distillery embodies Scottish excellence and tradition. In 1872, after the founders' death, the young James "The Major" Grant, born in 1847, inherited the company and the prestigious title of "Glengrant" from his uncle John Grant. A true visionary, "The Major" was a pioneer, innovator, and intrepid traveler who set revolutionary standards in whisky production. He was notably the first man in the Highlands to own a car, symbolizing his modernity. Under his leadership, Glen Grant became the first distillery equipped with electric lights and introduced unique slender stills and purifiers, which give Glen Grant whisky its distinctive profile: a fresh malty flavor, remarkable finesse, and a characteristic clear color, renowned worldwide. This combination of history, innovation, and quality makes Glen Grant a preferred choice for lovers of pure and refined whisky.
