The Glen Grant distillery is ideally located in Rothes, in the heart of the famous Speyside region in Scotland, an area renowned for its exceptional whiskies. Founded in 1840 by the visionary brothers John and James Grant, two former distillers and smugglers who chose to regularize their activity by obtaining an official license, Glen Grant embodies a rich heritage and traditional know-how. In 1872, after the founders' death, the destiny of the distillery was entrusted to James "The Major" Grant, born in 1847, a passionate and innovative man who knew how to perpetuate and evolve the art of Scottish distillation. Heir to his uncle John and his emblematic title "Glengrant," he transformed the distillery with a forward-looking vision, combining innovation and respect for traditions. A true pioneer, he was the first Highlander to own a car and introduced electric lighting in the factory well ahead of his time. Under his leadership, the slender stills and unique purifiers were developed, giving birth to the fresh malty aroma and light color, distinctive signatures of Glen Grant whisky that enthusiasts worldwide still recognize today.
