GLEN GRANT - 67 years old - 1953 Mr. George Legacy 1st Edition - Gordon & MacPhail - 59.40%
Gordon & MacPhail is a renowned independent bottler of Scottish whisky and the proud owner of the Benromach distillery. Known for its vast and prestigious range of bottlings from some of Scotland's most iconic distilleries, this house upholds exceptional craftsmanship. Founded in 1895 as a grocer and wine and spirits merchant in Elgin, in northeast Scotland, it saw the arrival of John Urquhart in 1915, a former apprentice who took full control of the company. Today, more than a century later, Gordon & MacPhail remains an exemplary family business, a symbol of authenticity and passion for exceptional whiskies.
The Glen Grant distillery is strategically located in Rothes, in the famous Speyside region of Scotland. Founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, two former distillers with a history of smuggling, their decision to obtain a legal distillation license marked the beginning of a legendary adventure. In 1872, after the founders' deaths, the young James "The Major" Grant, born in 1847, took over the distillery, inheriting the title of "Glengrant" from his uncle John. A visionary innovator, bold traveler, and social man, he made Glen Grant a reference thanks to his revolutionary ideas: he was the first man in the Highlands to own a car, the distillery was a pioneer in installing electric lighting, and he introduced the iconic slender stills and purifiers that give Glen Grant its fresh malty taste and clear color, distinctive characteristics still maintained today.
