CAMUS Cognac - Caribbean Expedition - 45.3%
Camus is a prestigious, independent, and family-owned Cognac House located in the famous terroir of the Borderies since 1863. Founded by Jean-Baptiste Camus, this iconic House is now led by the fifth generation, Cyril Camus. Since the late 19th century, Camus has successfully expanded internationally by exporting its Cognac to England, establishing its first foreign market. Throughout the 20th century, the House significantly developed its exports across Europe and then to Russia, where it became the official Cognac of the court of Tsar Nicholas II. With its 180 hectares of vineyards, Camus holds the largest plots among all producers of the exceptional Borderies cru, known for its unique and powerful character. This exceptional Cognac is crafted from a traditional blend of noble grape varieties: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard, ensuring finesse and harmony.
The Caribbean Expedition is a rare Cognac, produced in a limited edition (4,500 numbered bottles), benefiting from an innovative double maturation first in an oceanic climate and then tropical, a pioneering method pushing the boundaries of aging techniques. At the end of 2018, ten barrels carefully selected in their fourth year of aging were embarked aboard the tall ship De Gallant, which sailed the transatlantic route to Barbados. Upon arrival on the island, the Cognac then underwent an additional year of maturation under the unique tropical climatic conditions, supervised by the renowned Foursquare Master Distiller, Richard Seale. This exceptional and bold process accelerated organoleptic transformations, intensified aromas, and altered the color of the Cognac, giving birth to a nectar with a complex, distinguished, and innovative aromatic profile, a historic first in the world of Cognac.
