The historical origins of the Jamaican distillery Hampden date back to 1684, when the property belonged to a certain Thomas Goddard. Since 2009, this iconic distillery has been acquired by the Hussey family (Everglades Farms Ltd.) from the Jamaican state. Today, with nearly 5600 hectares of carefully cultivated sugarcane, the rums produced by the Hampden Rhum Company are among the most authentic and emblematic of Jamaica. These exceptional rums are always made according to the traditional heavy pot rum method, characterized by an intense aromatic richness thanks to a high concentration of natural esters from pot still distillation. The fermentations benefit from indigenous yeasts in spontaneous fermentation in a historic warehouse, using ancestral equipment, thus guaranteeing a unique product faithful to the Jamaican traditions of artisanal rum production.
