Velier is an iconic house founded in 1947 by Casimiro Chaix, located in Genoa, Italy. In 1953, in partnership with Arturo Lupi, they created a company specializing in the traditional import of wines and spirits, covering a wide range including champagne, grappa, but also tea and cocoa. In 1983, Gian Luca Gargano, then marketing director of Spirit SpA - the largest import company in Italy, joined Velier's capital. From 1985, Velier distinguished itself by specializing in the import of high-end spirits, mainly intended for gourmet restaurants and renowned wine bars. In 1988, Velier innovated by becoming the first Italian company to import New World wines, thus revolutionizing the local market. From 1992, the house began a careful selection of casks of old Single Malts and exceptional rums, leading to the official launch of their specialized brand in 1995. In 2001, Velier exclusively offered the first selection of high-quality Damoiseau rums. The Habitation Velier project, born in 2015, results from a unique collaboration between Luca Gargano and the best rum distillers in the world. This ambitious project aims to produce Pure Single rums where each expression reflects an original project and unique characteristics, constituting a true world first for each of the partner distilleries.
