Frédéric Bourgoin is an exceptional winemaker in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France), recognized for his unique expertise in crafting exceptional cognacs. On his family estate Clos des Spiritueux, he creates atypical cognacs with his family, combining authenticity and innovation. His philosophy is based on a 100% natural viticultural and winemaking approach, total transparency, and a bold quest for originality.
The family vineyard, named BOURGOIN since 1930, now extends over the prestigious crus of premiers bois, petite champagne, and fins bois, offering remarkable terroirs. A clear ambition: to help the French public rediscover the true taste of a winemaker's cognac, pure, authentic, and rich in character.
"Above all, I claim the terroir of premiers bois, a rare and little-known cru from the original 1909 map, benefiting from exceptional Upper Cretaceous (middle Cenomanian) subsoils. I fully commit myself to crafting 'natural' cognacs, without artifices, proudly bearing the pure expression of the terroir that gave them birth."
"Natural" means for us: no industrial blending, no aggressive filtration, no added colorants or sugars. Our cognacs are bottled vintage by vintage, by parcel and by barrel, to guarantee total traceability and authenticity. Our precious old vintages are offered at their natural strength, without chemical reduction.
Reductions on young eaux-de-vie are made exclusively with distilled rainwater, to optimize the aromatic richness and purity of the final product. Racking is done according to lunar phases, by gravity, to preserve the finesse of aromas and avoid any unnecessary and aggressive filtration.
Bottling is done entirely by hand at Clos des Spiritueux. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, demanding restaurateurs, and bartenders specialized in high mixology." Be aware, quantities are very limited, but quality and intense taste are always guaranteed.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 35cl at 43% vol. A 1994 vintage cognac of rare singularity, whose aging is enhanced by a finish in a 10-liter micro-barrel, combined with a unique crocodile bousinage process (55 seconds of bright flame). A nose and palate dominated by exotic aromas: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, overripe mango – a true invitation to a sensory journey.
