Scritch - Cyprien Arlaud - Mâcon 2024
Born from the refined world of Burgundy, Scritch is a unique project conceived by Cyprien Arlaud , the iconic winemaker of Domaine Arlaud in Morey-Saint-Denis. Renowned for the precision and purity of his Côte de Nuits wines, Cyprien explores a freer, more spontaneous approach with Scritch , inspired by immediate pleasure and drinkability. This side project allows him to venture into southern Burgundy, to the sun-drenched terroirs of the Mâconnais, while maintaining the exacting standards and elegance for which his work is renowned.
The Scritch Mâcon 2024 sincerely expresses the freshness and generosity of Mâconnais Chardonnay. Made from vines grown on clay-limestone soils, it is vinified naturally with indigenous yeasts, without any unnecessary additives, then aged in vats and old barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit. The 2024 vintage, sunny yet balanced, offers a vibrant wine, bursting with fruit and energy, while retaining the mineral tension so valued by the winemaker.
On the nose, the wine seduces with aromas of fresh citrus, white peach, and acacia blossom, enhanced by a chalky, saline note. On the palate, the texture is supple and vibrant, supported by a fine acidity that underscores flavors of ripe lemon, juicy pear, and sweet almond. The precise and thirst-quenching finish reveals a subtle stony touch that anchors the wine to its terroir.
