Jessica Litaud Estate - Mâcon-Vergisson - La Roche 2024
The Jessica Litaud Estate is a young property located in Vergisson, in the heart of the Mâconnais, in one of the most qualitative areas in the south of Burgundy. Situated at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson, Jessica Litaud represents a new generation of committed female winemakers, favoring an artisanal and precise approach to the vineyard. The plots are planted on steep limestone slopes, rich in marl and stones, benefiting from favorable exposures that allow a combination of ripeness and freshness. The vineyard work is carried out with particular attention to the soils and the natural balance of the plant, in a constant search for purity of terroir expression. Production remains deliberately limited, reinforcing the sought-after character of the estate's cuvées. This artisanal positioning gives the wines a sincere and very clear identity.
The cuvée Mâcon-Vergisson “La Roche” 2024 is made exclusively from Chardonnay, coming from vines located in the emblematic sector of La Roche, a terroir known for its minerality and natural tension. This named place, marked by very stony limestone soils, allows obtaining grapes with precise ripeness while maintaining structuring acidity. The 2024 vintage, fresher and more balanced, favors a straight and chiselled expression of Chardonnay, with great aromatic clarity. The vinification favors a low-intervention approach to preserve the fruit's brightness and the soil's identity. The aging is conducted with restraint to support the wine without ever dominating it. This cuvée perfectly illustrates the potential of Mâcon-Vergisson when worked with rigor.
On tasting, the wine opens with aromas of fresh white fruits, pear and apple, accompanied by floral notes and a lemony touch. The palate is taut, precise and elegant, supported by a beautiful mineral framework that structures the whole. The balance between freshness and body brings great drinkability while maintaining depth. The finish is clean, saline and persistent, a signature of the great limestone terroirs of Vergisson. This Mâcon-Vergisson La Roche 2024 will ideally accompany fish, seafood, delicate poultry or soft cheeses. It can also evolve favorably over a few years, gaining complexity.
