Clos Cibonne - Tibouren - Special Red Cuvée 2025
The Clos Cibonne is a historic estate of the Côtes de Provence appellation, located in Le Pradet, facing the Mediterranean Sea, on a terroir swept by sea winds. Founded in the 18th century and revived in the 20th century by the Roux family, the estate has distinguished itself by promoting the Tibouren, a rare and emblematic Provençal grape variety. Planted on schist and clay-limestone soils benefiting from a maritime microclimate, the vineyard enjoys slow and steady ripening that preserves freshness and balance. Clos Cibonne is recognized for its traditional vinifications and aging in old large oak casks, which give the wines depth and uniqueness. This artisanal approach makes the estate a distinctive signature in the Provençal landscape.
The Special Red Cuvée 2025 highlights the Tibouren, vinified here in red with the same rigor as the estate's emblematic rosés. This rare grape variety reveals a more structured and spicy facet while retaining Mediterranean finesse and elegance. The vinification favors controlled extraction to preserve the purity of the fruit and the delicacy of the tannins. Traditional aging in old large oak casks accompanies the wine without masking its identity, bringing complexity and patina. The 2025 vintage offers a beautiful balance between sunny ripeness and saline freshness, a signature of the maritime terroir of Le Pradet. This cuvée demonstrates the little-known potential of Tibouren in red, between character and refinement.
On tasting, the color is a bright ruby red. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red fruits, cherry and raspberry, complemented by spicy and slightly herbal notes. The palate is supple and elegant, supported by a fine structure and freshness that balances the body. The tannins are delicate, offering a harmonious texture and good drinkability. The finish, subtly saline and spicy, prolongs the tasting with finesse. This Mediterranean red will ideally accompany grilled meats, Provençal cuisine or sunny dishes, and can be enjoyed young while evolving harmoniously over a few years.
