La Gauloise is an exceptional liqueur made from aromatic plants and brandy, originating from Corrèze, in the heart of central France. This ancient recipe was reportedly rediscovered by Edouard Requier, a renowned distiller and liquorist in Périgueux, in 1783, within a precious old grimoire. Today, this authentic liqueur is carefully crafted by the Distillerie du Centre located in Limoges, ensuring recognized artisanal expertise.
Master liquorist Pierre Nouhaud carefully selects a rare palette of natural ingredients: angelica, St. John's wort, saffron, cardamom, génépi, as well as other secret components jealously guarded. These plants are double-distilled over a wood fire using a traditional technique, giving La Gauloise a unique aromatic richness and an intense bouquet that delights connoisseurs.
The Nectar of the Druids was specially created by the master liquorist in 2023 to celebrate the 240th anniversary of La Gauloise. This exclusive cuvée is a harmonious blend of green and yellow Gauloises, some of which have been carefully aged in oak barrels, bringing roundness, complexity, and depth to this exceptional creation.
