Nonino Grappa - Il Merlot - 41%
Nonino is an iconic reference in artisanal distillation in the Friuli region, in northern Italy. Founded in 1897 by Orazio Nonino, this family distillery perpetuates an exceptional ancestral know-how. It was in 1933 that Antonio Nonino, representing the third generation, decided to launch liqueurs that quickly made the house famous. After his passing, his wife Silvia Nonino became the first woman to run a distillery, forever marking the history of Italian grappa.
Visionaries, Benito and Giannola Nonino, heirs of Silvia, created in 1973 the first single-varietal grappa according to the Cru concept, revolutionizing the world of Italian spirits. From 1989, the Nonino family planted 40 hectares of vineyards with indigenous grape varieties such as Picolit, Ribolla Gialla, Fragolino, and Schioppettino. This approach allows them to fully control the quality and authenticity of their grappas, renowned for their finesse and typicity.
To guarantee the excellence of each distillate, the Nonino family carefully selects grape pomace, exclusively destemmed and immediately transported to the distillery after vinification. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks before distillation by copper pot still, preserving the aromatic richness of the grape varieties.
The Nonino Grappa Il Merlot is made from the pomace of the Merlot grape variety, known for its fruity aromas and softness. This grappa captivates with its balance, elegant notes, and great purity, making it a choice cuvée for refined spirit enthusiasts.
