Velier was founded in 1947 by Casimiro Chaix in Genoa, Italy, a city known for its rich commercial heritage and passion for quality spirits. Together with his partner Arturo Lupi, they created in 1953 an import company specializing in fine wines and spirits, distributing notably champagne, grappa, as well as rare tea and cocoa. In 1983, Gian Luca Gargano, marketing director of Spirit SpA, Italy's largest importer, joined the company, bringing new momentum. From 1985, Velier focused on importing the finest spirits, mainly targeting gourmet restaurants and high-end wine bars. Pioneers in 1988, they were the first Italian company to import precious wines from the New World. Starting in 1992, Velier began rigorously selecting rare casks of Single Malts and exceptional rums to create their own brand, which has been intensively developed since 1995. In 2001, Velier offered for the first time an exclusive selection of Damoiseau rums, demonstrating their expertise and passion for authentic spirits. Habitation Velier is an innovative project launched in 2015, the result of close collaboration between Luca Gargano and the world's best distillers, aiming to produce unique Pure Single rums. Each expression of Habitation Velier embodies an original concept with distinctive characteristics and represents a true world first in each partner distillery, thus guaranteeing an unparalleled sensory experience.
Port Mourant 1993 is an iconic rum from the old Demerara tradition originating from Guyana, renowned for its historic expertise in powerful and complex rums.
