Vintage 1980 - BARREL-AGED BRUT - 35 Cl bottle
Frédéric Bourgoin is a passionate winemaker in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France), at the heart of the prestigious cognac-producing region. On the family estate Clos des Spiritueux, he crafts, together with his entire family, unique and authentic cognacs, both innovative in their conception and faithful to tradition. His philosophy is based on a natural and ecological viticulture and winemaking approach, total transparency, and a touch of controlled innovation to reveal the pure expression of the terroir.
The family vineyard Clos des Spiritueux has borne the name BOURGOIN since 1930. It now extends over exceptional crus: Premiers Bois, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois. The house's ambition is clear: to rediscover for French and international enthusiasts the authentic taste of a true winemaker's cognac, noble and sincere, far from conventional industrial standards.
"I mainly claim the exceptional terroir of Premiers Bois, a little-known and almost forgotten cru since the original 1909 map, which benefits from a remarkable subsoil dating from the Upper Cretaceous (middle Cenomanian). My stubborn method consists of producing 'natural' cognacs, without artifice, that fully express the unique richness of the terroir that saw them born, preserving their original characters."
Natural here means: without artificial blends, without aggressive filtration, without additives, without added colorings or sugars. All the cognacs from Clos des Spiritueux are bottled by vintage, by specific parcels, and even by barrels, guaranteeing incomparable authenticity and traceability. The old vintages are offered at their full strength, to provide a pure and complete tasting experience.
The reductions of young eaux-de-vie are carried out exclusively with distilled rainwater, carefully chosen to optimize aromatic potential and preserve the finesse of flavors. Racking is done according to the lunar quadrature, by gravity, to respect fluid mechanics and avoid any unnecessary or harsh filtration, thus ensuring optimal quality.
Bottling is meticulously done 100% by hand at the Clos des Spiritueux estate. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, high-end restaurant professionals, and experts in advanced mixology." With very limited productions, each bottle is a true gustatory treasure, whose richness of aromas and complexity never cease to surprise.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 35cl at 43% vol. An exceptional vintage cognac, carefully aged and refined, completed in a micro-barrel of only 10 liters, through a unique process called "crocodile bousinage" (55 seconds of direct flame). This aging gives the cognac a rich nose and palate, dominated by intense tropical aromas: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango, for an incomparable tasting experience, both round, powerful, and delicate.
