Vintage 1973 - BARREL-AGED BRUT - 35 Cl bottle
Frédéric Bourgoin is a passionate winemaker in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France), at the heart of a region renowned for its exceptional terroirs. On the family estate Clos des Spiritueux, he and his team craft unique cognacs, combining authenticity and boldness, both in taste and visual appeal. His philosophy is based on a 100% natural viticulture and winemaking approach, complete transparency in his methods, and a controlled touch of innovation to enhance every expression of the terroir.
The family vineyard Clos des Spiritueux, proudly bearing the BOURGOIN name since 1930, now extends over exceptional crus such as Premiers Bois, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois. Its clear mission is to help French enthusiasts rediscover the richness and finesse of a true winemaker's cognac, carefully crafted with respect for ancestral traditions.
"Above all, I claim the terroir of Premiers Bois, a rare and little-known cru listed on the original 1909 map and endowed with superb Upper Cretaceous (Middle Cenomanian) subsoils. My approach is steadfastly focused on producing 'natural' cognacs that fully express the unique character of the soil and climate where they were born."
Natural here means: no blending, no filtration, no addition of colorants or sugars. Each cognac is bottled according to its vintage, parcel, and original barrel, guaranteeing uncompromising authenticity. Older vintages are offered at their natural alcohol strength, without artificial reduction, for a pure and authentic tasting experience.
Reductions on young eaux-de-vie are made exclusively with distilled rainwater, thus optimizing preservation and aromatic power. Racking is done according to the lunar cycle, by gravity, to respect fluid mechanics and avoid any unnecessary or aggressive filtration, thereby ensuring the subtlety and aromatic integrity of the cognacs.
Bottling is done 100% by hand on the estate, with attention to detail and quality. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, high-end gastronomic restaurants, and premium mixology specialists." Note that quantities are extremely limited, but the aromatic richness and finesse of taste are always present.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 - 35 cl at 43% vol. This atypical vintage cognac benefits from a unique aging process, completed by a finish in a 10-liter micro-barrel, subjected to a crocodile bousinage process (flame touching for 55 seconds). The nose and palate reveal an exotic and complex bouquet, blending aromas of bourbon vanilla, strawberry jam, roasted pineapple, and overripe mango, offering an unforgettable sensory experience.
