Vintage 1954 - BARREL PROOF - 35 Cl bottle
Frédéric Bourgoin is a passionate winemaker in Saint Saturnin in Charente (France). He crafts, with his family on their family estate, exceptional and atypical cognacs, both in terms of quality and originality. His philosophy favors a 100% natural viticulture and winemaking approach, total transparency, and a touch of bold innovation to offer unique tasting experiences.
The family vineyard, named BOURGOIN since 1930, now extends over prestigious crus: premiers bois, petite champagne, and fins bois. Their ambition? To help French enthusiasts rediscover the authenticity and unmatched taste of a true winemaker's cognac, far from industrial standards.
"Above all, I claim the terroir of premiers bois, a little-known and rare cru, listed on the original 1909 map, benefiting from exceptional subsoils dating from the Upper Cretaceous (middle Cenomanian). I am passionately committed to crafting "natural" cognacs that fully express the terroir where they were born."
"Natural" here means without blending, without filtration, without added colorants or sugars. Each vintage is bottled separately, by parcel and by barrel, to preserve the unique characteristics intact. The old vintages are offered at their full alcohol strength, without compromise.
For the young eaux-de-vie, reductions are made exclusively with distilled rainwater, thus optimizing aromatic richness. Racking is done in moon quadrature, by gravity, to best respect fluid mechanics and avoid any aggressive or unnecessary filtration, thus guaranteeing optimal purity.
Bottling is done entirely by hand, within the estate itself. "I dedicate my cognacs to passionate wine merchants, high-quality restaurants, and prestigious mixology experts." Note that quantities are very limited, making each bottle a true rare gem with exceptional taste.
Our emblematic cuvée? MICROBARRIQUE 1994 35cl at 43% vol. A unique vintage cognac, carefully aged with a finish in a 10-liter micro-barrel subjected to crocodile bousinage (55 seconds of delicate flame). This aging imparts intense tropical aromas on the nose and palate: bourbon vanilla, jammy strawberry, roasted pineapple, overripe mango, for an extraordinary sensory experience.
Clos des Spiritueux embodies this quest for authenticity and finesse, highlighting ancestral know-how and the richness of Charente terroirs to showcase exceptional cognacs on the international market.
