Domaine Jacques Frédéric Mugnier - Bonnes Mares 2022
Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, based at Château de Chambolle-Musigny, is one of the greatest names in Burgundy. Faithful to an approach of exemplary purity, Frédéric Mugnier creates wines of rare precision and grace, the fruit of patient viticulture and minimal intervention. Each cuvée reflects the quintessence of its terroir, with a quest for balance between energy, transparency, and aromatic depth.
The Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2022 comes from vines located on the border between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, on soils combining marl and iron-rich red limestone. This powerful terroir expresses itself here with controlled intensity. The sunny but perfectly balanced 2022 vintage allowed for even ripening of the grapes, producing dense and refined wines. The vinification, using partially whole bunches, and the measured aging in oak barrels ensure a style faithful to the spirit of the estate: clear, harmonious, without artifice.
The nose opens with a complex bouquet of black cherry, peony, licorice, and undergrowth, supported by subtle notes of sweet spices and warm stone. On the palate, the texture is ample and chiseled, marked by very fine tannins and a straight mineral structure. The heart of the wine combines power and delicacy, in a striking balance between depth and tension. The endless finish reveals reminiscences of ripe red fruits and ferruginous earth, the signature of the most distinguished Bonnes-Mares.
A wine for long aging, which should be allowed to age for a few years to reach its full complexity. Serve between 16 and 17°C after prolonged aeration.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
