LONGUETEAU - N°11 - Plot Selection - Organic Red Cannes - Harvest 2020 - 55%
The Longueteau family arrived in Guadeloupe in 1766, but it was not until the end of the 19th century that Louis-Philippe Henry Longueteau acquired part of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie , put up for auction following the crisis of the sugar industry. In 1895, he bought the Habitation Espérance to develop the estate from the status of a sugar refinery to that of a distillery. Today, François Longueteau takes care of the House, the only distillery in Guadeloupe whose owner is both the farmer and the master distiller.
Its rums are entirely from its own sugar cane. They are harvested and crushed the same day at full maturity. Following a 48-hour fermentation without inputs, the juices are distilled in a Savalle column with 28 trays.
This plot cuvée comes from plot No.11 , the smallest of the Domaine du Marquisat and cultivated organically since 2017. The red cane (R-579) was harvested on June 17, 2020 and then distilled on June 19. The rum was bottled on November 29, 2021. 3,000 bottles have been produced.
