MASAM - Silvano Samaroli Collection - Port Morant - Single Cask 26 - Vintage 2003 - Bottled in 2021 - 53.6%
Masam refers to Maryse Samaroli, wife of the legendary Silvano Samaroli. Originally from Bologna, Italy, Silvano Samaroli revolutionized the world of spirits since 1968 by selecting and bottling exceptional whiskies and rums, among the best in the world. At the time, he was the only independent non-British bottler, thus bringing a unique and rare expertise to the international scene.
In the 1990s, Samaroli expanded his unique selection to rums by traveling the world in search of the most prestigious distilleries. He then brought the casks back to Scotland, where the temperate climate allows for slow aging, ensuring exceptional quality and aromatic complexity. In 2008, Antonio Bleve, a loyal collaborator of Samaroli sharing the same passion and philosophy, took over the leadership of the house. With the support of a community of rum and whisky experts, Antonio continues to seek rare casks through a vast network and unique historical relationships.
The Samaroli House, now recognized worldwide, is a pioneer in the art of blending. It subtly marries old spirits with the power of younger ones and practices new cask finishing to give whiskies and rums an incomparable depth and complexity, often surpassing classic Single Malts.
Each bottle of the Samaroli collection, distributed by Clos des Spiritueux, embodies this demand for quality: the year of cask filling, the year of bottling, the number of bottles from the cask, as well as the individual bottle number, are clearly indicated – a guarantee of transparency and exclusivity.
This exceptional Single Cask is a cask strength spirit, coming directly from the mythical Port Morant distillery in British Guiana. It is barrel No. 28 from the 2003 vintage, bottled at its natural strength of 53.6%. This rare rum will captivate enthusiasts and collectors with its intensity, aromatic richness, and prestigious origin.
