Alice and Olivier De Moor - The Masked Harvester - The Same Azimuth 2024
The project “The Masked Harvester” by Alice and Olivier De Moor represents a freer and more experimental facet of their work, allowing them to explore other terroirs through the purchase of grapes grown by partner winemakers sharing the same standards. Based in Courgis, in the heart of the Chablis region, they apply their expertise here to Alsatian grape varieties, creating unique wines, outside appellation, but deeply consistent with their philosophy. The cuvée The Same Azimuth 2024 comes from grapes sourced from Alsace, organically grown and hand-harvested. It perfectly illustrates this desire to break down regional boundaries while maintaining a precise reading of the fruit and terroir. Each vintage is reinvented, but always in a spirit of purity, freshness, and drinkability.
In the cellar, the Riesling is pressed directly while the other grape varieties ferment in whole cluster maceration for about two weeks before blending and aging in barrels without new wood. The nose expresses itself on an intense and expressive aromatic palette, mixing citrus, exotic fruits, flowers, and spices typical of Alsatian grape varieties. On the palate, the wine is both light, energetic, and textured, supported by lively acidity and great freshness. The maceration brings a slight structure and additional complexity without ever weighing down the whole. The balance between tension and aromatics is particularly successful, giving an accessible yet precise wine. The finish, fresh and slightly spicy, extends this sensation of dynamism and indulgence.
Served between 10 and 12°C, it will perfectly accompany dishes with Asian influences, sauced fish, spicy cuisines, or soft cheeses. Its aromatic dimension also makes it an excellent aperitif wine for lovers of expressive but balanced wines. Best enjoyed young to appreciate its brightness, it can nevertheless evolve over a few years, gaining complexity. The Same Azimuth 2024 embodies a modern and free vision of wine, where precision of gesture meets the richness of aromatic grape varieties. It is an original, vibrant, and decidedly lively cuvée.
