Domaine des Comtes Lafon , established in Meursault since the late 19th century, embodies one of the purest and noblest expressions of Burgundy. Run by Dominique Lafon , and later by his daughter Léa, the estate combines a rich historical heritage with exemplary viticulture, practiced organically and biodynamically for over twenty years. Each wine is conceived as a reflection of the terroir, in a style that blends density, precision, and refinement.
The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Santenots du Milieu comes from an emblematic vineyard in the southern part of the appellation, ranked among the greatest terroirs of Volnay. The vines, planted in soils of fine clay mixed with limestone, produce grapes of remarkable ripeness and aromatic intensity. The generous and harmonious 2022 vintage has yielded a wine of great balance. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts and gentle maceration, followed by patient aging in oak barrels, a measured proportion of which are new, to enhance the finesse of the Pinot Noir without masking the terroir.
On the nose, the 2022 Santenots du Milieu seduces with its aromatic depth: ripe black fruits, Morello cherry, violet, and peony, enhanced by subtle notes of cocoa, incense, and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is ample, silky, and structured, supported by remarkably fine tannins. The wine unfolds flavors of jammy red and black fruits, licorice, and truffle, underpinned by a mineral backbone and delicate freshness.
