The Midleton Distillery complex is located in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland . It is owned by Irish Distillers , a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard . Several whiskeys are produced on site, including Jameson, Tullamore Dew or Redbreast to name a few. Redbreast was originally bottled by Gilbey's, a Dublin liquor store using distillate from the Jameson Distillery in Bow Street. In 1985, Gilbey's ceased production of Redbreast. He struck a deal to sell the brand to Irish Distillers in 1986, and it was then relaunched in 1991 after several years out of the market. Redbreast is one of the few single pot still whiskeys still in existence today; it is a style of Irish whiskey made by a single distillery from a mixture of malted and unmalted barley distilled in a pot still.
The 12 year old was aged in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks .
