Cognac GROSPERRIN - No. 71 - Petite Champagne - Lot No. 934 - 52.2%
The Grosperrin House was founded by Jean Grosperrin who arrived in Cognac in 1991 after working in several seasonal jobs such as farm worker, shepherd, and sheep shearer. In 1992, he became a country broker, traveling the vineyards in search of the rarest and most authentic cognac lots from small family farms in the region. In 1999, Jean Grosperrin took a decisive turn by acquiring several casks of old cognacs, combining his expertise with his three traditional stills, thus marking the birth of an exclusive range: the Grosperrin Cognacs. In 2004, his son Guilhem Grosperrin took over the family business. Passionate, he developed the stocks and enriched the cellars with prestigious and rare eaux-de-vie. He rigorously selected exceptional plots and established direct contracts with growers committed to sustainable viticulture respectful of the terroir. In 2012, he expanded the House's reputation by meeting foreign importers and cognac enthusiasts worldwide, thus creating an international network of collectors and enlightened aficionados.
This Cognac Petite Champagne No. 71 comes from an exceptional auction organized for the benefit of two charitable associations. André Bertandeau, a recognized winegrower who passed away in 2016, had bequeathed his property as well as his oldest stocks of cognac. A survivor of the Buchenwald and Dora concentration camps, he dedicated his life to reminding people of the ravages of war, populism, and extremism. This exceptional cognac is not only a tribute to his courage but also a treasure of the Petite Champagne wine region, emblematic of the richness of the Charente terroir and the art of blending eaux-de-vie selected with passion and rigor.
