Bunnahabhain (Whisky)

Bunnahabhain Destilleriet ligger på øen Islay (udtales "Ayla") i Skotland. Dets historie går tilbage til 1881, da William Robertson medstiftede destilleriet sammen med William og James Greenlees. I 1883 var whiskyproduktionen på destilleriet på sit højeste, og i 1963 førte den stigende popularitet af skotsk whisky til en fordobling af destillationsapparaterne. Begyndelsen af 1980'erne oplevede et fald i whisky-markedet, og destilleriet blev lukket i 1982, men produktionen genoptog hurtigt to år senere. I de følgende år gik Bunnahabhain gennem flere forskellige ejere, før det blev opkøbt af Distell-gruppen i 2013. Fremstillingsprocessen for Bunnahabhain whisky starter med let tørvet maltet byg, som kombineres med kildevand fra "Margadale", opvarmet i kedlen for at producere urten. Gæringen af urten foregår derefter i Oregon-pinetønder. Ingen af de skotske Single Malt whiskyer, der produceres af Bunnahabhain, bliver koldfiltreret. I modsætning til de fleste Islay-whiskyer er Bunnahabhains whiskyer ikke stærkt tørvede eller røgede.
