Vinum Chenin Blanc 2022 is the signature cuvée dedicated to a straightforward and approachable expression of Chenin Blanc from the South African coast. Sourced from a selection of parcels in a climate tempered by the ocean, some planted with old vines in bush vines, this 2022 vintage benefits from a balanced vintage, allowing the grapes to reach full maturity without excessive richness. The harvest is done by hand, early in the day, to preserve aromatic freshness. After gentle pressing, the juices ferment with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, sometimes supplemented with a small proportion of wine aged in large oak casks or old barrels to add texture without overpowering the wine. Aging on fine lees maintains a flavorful mouthfeel while preserving a dry, taut, and crystalline profile.
On the palate, the nose is immediately expressive and precise. It reveals notes of crisp yellow apple, fresh pear, and white peach, enhanced by aromas of citrus, lemon, and grapefruit, as well as a touch of quince and white flowers.
