The 2024 vintage expresses itself with beautiful intensity: fresh citrus, green apple, white flowers, flint, and chalky nuances. The palate is focused, energetic, and elegant, with a saline finish that defines the lively and chiseled style of Frantz Chagnoleau. The magnum format enhances the precision, longevity, and harmony of this cuvée, allowing for slower aging and a more expansive expression. It is ideal for convivial meals, lovers of great white Mâconnais wines, and collectors. Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau - Les Montchanins Magnum 2024

Located in Pierreclos, in the heart of the Mâconnais region, Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau is among the most sought-after names in Southern Burgundy. Founded in 2009 by Frantz Chagnoleau and Caroline Gon, both trained oenologists, the estate quickly established itself thanks to a meticulous approach to terroir and committed viticulture based on soil management and respect for living organisms. The vines are cultivated organically, with minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar, resulting in Chardonnay wines of great purity and remarkable elegance.

Les Montchanins 2024 is a Saint-Véran made from Chardonnay grapes grown on clay-limestone soils typical of southern Burgundy. The vines, often old, are cultivated according to organic farming principles, with controlled yields to concentrate the fruit. The harvest is exclusively by hand, followed by gentle pressing and fermentation in large oak casks and Burgundian barrels, using only indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for several months on its fine lees, without any artificial intervention, in order to preserve the mineral structure and natural tension while refining its texture. Offered here in magnum format, this 2024 vintage gains in aging potential and aromatic complexity, the large volume allowing for a slower, more harmonious evolution, ideal for large gatherings.

On the palate, the nose of Saint Véran Les Montchanins 2024 Magnum is fresh and expressive. It opens with aromas of white flowers, linden blossom, and honeysuckle, joined by notes of juicy white fruits, pear and peach, followed by delicate citrus fruits like lemon and clementine. With aeration, more refined vegetal nuances emerge, evoking fern and fresh herbs, along with a delicate mineral base reminiscent of chalk and damp stone.

On the palate, the attack is direct, driven by a beautiful acidity that structures the wine without making it harsh. The mid-palate is ample and ethereal, with a silky texture where white fruits, citrus pulp, discreet exotic notes, and a very subtle spicy undertone mingle. The clay-limestone minerality translates into a sensation of depth and tension, giving the wine a mouthwatering and deeply digestible quality. The long and precise finish lingers with saline and slightly spicy notes, with a return of citrus and flint that marks a great gastronomic white wine, both luscious and crystalline.

At the table, the magnum of Saint Véran Les Montchanins 2024 is the perfect companion to fish in light sauces, roasted cod, grilled swordfish, or a creamy veal stew, where its freshness balances the richness of the dish. It also pairs beautifully with free-range poultry with morels, asparagus risotto, refined vegetarian cuisine, or lightly spiced dishes, where its mineral structure and saline finish provide superb length on the palate. The magnum format, designed for sharing, enhances these pairings by offering a slower, deeper, and particularly harmonious expression of the wine throughout the meal.
