Chateau La Negly - The Cliff - White 2023
Château la Négly is located in Occitanie , facing the Mediterranean, in the La Clape massif. In the 18th century, the Château was called Ancely. In 1781, the property took the name Nerly to finally be called La Négly in 1807 and later obtained the name of Château. Several families succeeded one another at the head of the estate. The Paux-Rosset family will definitively orient the vineyard towards a qualitative production. The cultivation method is modified and the vines are entirely re-planted. The neighboring estate of Boède is taken on lease. With the help of the consulting oenologist Mr. Claude Gros, the winemaking will be completely rethought. Together, they bought the Boède estate in 2006 with a third partner, Alain Wittner. Today, Bastien Paux-Rosset, responsible for cultivation, operates these re-planted vineyards which extend over 75 hectares (the vineyard extends over 50 hectares and that of Boède over 25 hectares). Ideally exposed, the terroirs of Négly and Boède are distinguished by the diversity of their soils. In order to better enhance these, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre have replaced Aramon, Terret, Carignan blanc. The vineyard is managed using sustainable agriculture .
La Falaise Blanc is a blend of Chardonnay, Grenache Gris, Sauvignon Gris and Petit Manseng . The pressing is followed by a 72-hour maceration on lees, alcoholic fermentation takes place in 600-litre demi-muids . The wine is aged for 6 months in barrels on total lees, with daily stirring for the first two months.
