PENDERYN - Patagonia - Icon of Wales No.11 - Blended Malt with Alazana - 43%
The Penderyn Distillery is ideally located at the southern tip of the Brecon Beacons National Park, in the heart of Wales. A true revival for this region, Galician distillation was an almost lost art until the late 1990s, when a passionate group of friends decided to revive this tradition by founding the first Welsh whisky distillery in over a century. The choice of the historic village of Penderyn is based on the richness of pure and natural spring water, a key element for the exceptional quality of their whiskies. The official launch of their first whisky took place on Saint David's Day in 2004, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Charles, thus highlighting the cultural and heritage importance of this brand.
Penderyn Patagonia is the distillery's first prestigious blend, symbolizing the unique history linking Wales to Patagonia. In 1865, 153 Welsh immigrants boarded the Mimosa to found a colony in Patagonia, to preserve their language and rich culture. Today, Patagonia has more than 50,000 Welsh descendants, including 5,000 active Welsh speakers, who perpetuate the cultural tradition each year with events such as the Eisteddfodau, a true celebration of "Little Wales beyond Wales." Icons of Wales No.11 is a refined blend combining Penderyn's expertise and the authenticity of the Patagonian whisky from the La Alazana distillery, whose first Single Malt was produced in November 2011, offering a unique and rare tasting experience.
