Château TEYNAC 2016
Château Teynac is located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle , in the Bordeaux wine region. The property was purchased by Fabienne and Philippe Pairault , originally from Paris. At the time, Philippe, a graduate in architecture, ran a communication agency. Fabienne was a journalist and lawyer but managed the communication of a major German brand in the automotive sector. In addition to their professional activities, the couple is interested in wine. When they took over Château Teynac, the property only had 4.5 hectares compared to 12.5 hectares today. At the same time, they visited Château Corconnac and the two acquisitions were made in 1990. Thirty years later, their daughter Eléonore joined them. Ecological awareness is key for the family, which has been involved in the EMS approach since 2015 - this collective environmental approach has enabled them to obtain double certification (ISO 14001 and HVE from the 2016 vintage).
Château Teynac is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (28%) and Petit Verdot (2%) : a proportion varying slightly depending on the vintage at the time of blending. The grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats where the maceration lasts 3 weeks. The wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new.
