TAYLOR'S - Porto - 10 years
The Taylor's Port House is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south bank of the majestic Douro River, opposite the historic city of Porto, in Portugal. Founded in 1692 by Job Bearsley, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious founding Port houses, symbolizing Portuguese winemaking excellence and tradition. Currently, the company is passionately and expertly managed by the Yeatman family, who have been involved in this venture for over 200 years, perpetuating a unique heritage.
Taylor's wines are made from carefully selected grapes, mainly from vineyards nestled in the splendid Douro Valley, a region recognized for its exceptional terroir where the Mediterranean climate and schist soils provide ideal conditions for cultivating noble grape varieties destined for the production of high-quality Port wines. In addition to its expertise in Port wines, Taylor's is also committed to producing exceptional still wines in the Douro region and owns prestigious vineyards in other renowned Portuguese wine regions, notably in Alentejo, thus expanding its winemaking expertise.
The 10-year-old Port, remarkably elegant, is a Tawny style Port. It is carefully aged to full maturity in 630-liter oak casks, which gives it a unique aromatic complexity, combining delicacy, finesse, and richness of flavors to delight the most demanding enthusiasts.
