TAKAMAKA - 3 ans - Millésime 2018 - Habitation Velier - Bottled 2021 - 60,8%
Habitation Velier is a project born in 2015 from the collaboration of Luca Gargano with the best rum distillers. They produce Pure Single rum and each expression of the Habitation Velier contains an original project, with unique characteristics, a "world first" for each distillery.
Takamaka is a distillery located in La Plaine Saint-André, on the East Cost of Mahe in Seychelles. Built by the Jorre de Saint Jorre family in 1792, La Plaine Saint-André was a plantation estate set amongst exotic gardens. It covered over 24 hectares of land at its peak and played a big role in the agricultural economy of the Seychelles in the 1900s, growing cinnamon, vanilla, coconut and patchouli for export to Europe. Through the years, La Plaine Saint-André has filled many functions as a coconut mill, National Monument, a boat repair yard, regal car garage, Eco Museum, restaurant and even an art gallery. It has burnt down and it has been rebuilt and at one point became neglected when funding was sparse. In 2008, after four years of tenacious campaigning, Trois Frères Distillery was granted a 50-year-lease and spent the next two years lovingly and carefully restoring the grounds.
This rum is produced at La Plaine Saint-André and aged for 3 years in new French oak barrels. This rum is a blend of two casks that were distilled in February 2018. Fully matured at the distillery and bottled at high proof with a congeners content of 564.4 gr/hlpa of which 58 gr/hlpa are esters.
