The prestigious Amrut Distillery is located in Kambipura, in the heart of India. Founded in 1947 by Shri J.N. Radhakrishna, just before India's independence, this iconic house initially supplied the Indian army with spirits. Today, Amrut is based in Bangalore and exports its creations to five other Indian states. The Single Malt range, launched in 2004, quickly established itself internationally: by 2010, Amrut Fusion was named "Third Best Whisky in the World" by the famous Jim Murray's Whisky Bible. These exceptional whiskies are made from barley grown in the majestic Himalayan mountains, giving them a unique quality. Amrut's master blender notes that one year of maturation in India's hot and humid warehouses is equivalent to about three years in Scotland. Moreover, the Angel's Share is nearly 12% per year, compared to about 2% in Scotland, which gives these single malts a remarkable aromatic intensity. Single Malt represents only a minority of production, which also includes amber rum, brandy, vodka, gin, and blends, all crafted with exceptional expertise.
This limited edition of 156 bottles is a rare piece from the prestigious French Connections range offered by Clos des Spiritueux. This exclusive single cask (#5143), filled in August 2014, underwent unique aging in ex-Rum Caroni casks, a famous Trinidadian spirit known for its powerful and complex aromas. After six years of maturation, it was bottled in August 2020 at 60% vol., revealing a rich and intense profile, ideal for discerning enthusiasts seeking rare novelties.
