Yohan Lardy - Vines from 1903 - Moulin à Vent 2024
Yohan Lardy's Vines from 1903 Moulin-à-Vent 2024 is a cuvée of depth and memory, made from very old vines planted over a century ago on the emblematic granite soils of the appellation. The intense ruby color, with purple reflections, announces a wine of character and controlled concentration. The nose opens with deep aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and ripe raspberry, complemented by notes of violet, peony, and a delicate spicy touch. Mineral and slightly smoky nuances recall the nature of the soil and the age of the vines. The whole is dense, precise, with a noble aromatic profile that immediately commands respect. From the first sniff, the wine expresses a true sense of terroir and long aging.
On the palate, the attack is ample and structured, supported by concentrated yet remarkably balanced matter. The fine and tight tannins outline a solid framework without ever hardening the wine, offering a texture that is both firm and silky. The black fruit continues with intensity, supported by notes of spices, licorice, and a mineral freshness that stretches the palate. The precise vinification and careful aging respect the identity of Gamay while giving it an almost Burgundian dimension. The wine gains complexity with aeration, revealing accents of warm stone, black tea, and slightly stewed fruits. The balance between power, finesse, and tension is remarkable, a signature of Yohan Lardy's style. Each sip reflects the quiet strength of the old vines and the rigor of vineyard work.
Vines from 1903 2024 is a great gastronomic Moulin-à-Vent, designed as much for the table as for aging. It ideally accompanies roasted meats, grilled beef, pigeon, veal with mushrooms, or rich and structured plant-based cuisine. Its depth and freshness also allow it to shine with more refined dishes, where the wine’s precision finds a natural echo. Served around 15 to 16 °C, after slight aeration, it reveals all its complexity and relief. Already expressive in its youth, it has excellent aging potential, evolving towards notes of undergrowth, noble spices, and polished black fruits. It is a Moulin-à-Vent of great stature, sincere and elegant, perfectly illustrating the nobility of Gamay on its finest terroirs.
