Domaine Saint Préfert – Stella Ducit 2024
A major reference of Châteauneuf du Pape, Domaine Saint Préfert offers with Stella Ducit Blanc a cuvée outside the appellation that highlights a free, pure, and luminous interpretation of the southern terroir. Isabel Ferrando continues her demanding work around the historic grape varieties of the southern Rhône, with viticulture respectful of the soils, maturities, and natural freshness. The 2024 vintage, balanced and bathed in light, gives birth to a white wine of great elegance, restrained in intervention and faithful to the identity of the estate.
Stella Ducit Blanc 2024 comes exclusively from Clairette, an ancestral grape variety of the southern Rhône, here harvested at perfect maturity from carefully selected plots. Manual harvesting preserves the integrity of the berries, followed by gentle pressing and slow fermentation led by indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place in tanks and neutral containers, without seeking marked oak influence, in order to preserve the precision, uprightness, and crystalline character of the Clairette. The result is a vibrant, taut white wine, with great aromatic purity and remarkable drinkability.
On the nose, the tasting reveals notes of fresh pear, lemon, white flowers, and anise, enhanced by a hint of almond and wild fennel. On the palate, the attack is straight and pure, supported by a clear freshness that gives a slender and salivating style. The mid-palate blends white fruits, citrus zest, and a fine mineral thread that stretches the wine with precision. The finish is long, delicate, slightly saline, marked by Mediterranean herbs and a citrusy return. At the table, Stella Ducit Blanc 2024 ideally accompanies grilled fish, shellfish, lemony poultry, fresh cheeses, or plant-based cuisine centered around summer vegetables and fine herbs.
