Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe - Châteauneuf du Pape 2023
Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape , in the Southern Rhône . The estate was founded by Hippolyte Burnier and marketed its first wine in 1900. The Brunier family also produces wine under the Massaya label in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. It has grown to become one of the largest landowners in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with nearly 100 hectares. The estate's vines (60 years old on average) are planted on the famous Plateau de La Crau, a renowned wine-growing site in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sustainable viticulture is practiced throughout the property.
Vieux Télégraphe Rouge is a blend of Grenache Noir (70%), Mourvèdre (15%), Syrah (15%) . Harvesting is manual with double sorting in the vineyard, followed by a third sorting in the cellar. The grapes are lightly crushed and destemmed selectively. Fermentation is traditional, lasting 30 to 40 days in stainless steel and wooden vats. The wine is aged for 20 to 22 months in 60 hectoliter French oak tuns .
This 2023 vintage immediately seduces with the depth of its aromas combining damp earth, ripe red berries and dried flowers . The palate is rich and concentrated , but with remarkable elegance and finesse. The length is simply incredible! A future masterpiece that we can't wait to discover once bottled.
