Wasenhaus – Spätburgunder 2023
The Wasenhaus estate is located in Staufen, in the Baden region, and is run by Christoph and Alexander Wißler, two winemaker brothers trained in prestigious Burgundian houses before returning to their native lands. Their project is based on a demanding vision of German Pinot Noir, inspired by Burgundy but deeply rooted in the volcanic and limestone terroirs of Baden. The estate operates on a small scale, with extreme attention paid to the soils, natural balances, and the expression of the vintage. Wasenhaus has quickly established itself as one of the most sought-after estates in Germany for the finesse and precision of its wines. Their Spätburgunder is an essential entry point into their world.
The Spätburgunder 2023 is a dry red wine made from Pinot Noir, coming from vines located in the Staufen area, on predominantly volcanic soils. The 2023 vintage highlights the freshness and clarity of the grape variety, with a focus on balance rather than power. This cuvée reflects the estate’s approach: precise vinification, respect for the fruit, and a desire to let the terroir speak without artifice.
