Château Bouscassé - The Pinot Noir 2022
Alain Brumont is a key figure in the Southwest vineyard, renowned for having restored the Madiran appellation to its former glory. In the 1980s, he broke with the region's traditional practices to impose an ambitious vision of Tannat , a native grape variety long considered rustic and difficult. Today, Alain Brumont is at the head of nearly 300 hectares of vines and his wines are renowned worldwide for their character, longevity and precision. He owns two properties: Château Montus and Château Bouscassé .
Château Bouscassé is located in Maumusson-Lagnian, in the Madiran appellation in the Southwest . Alain Brumont selected the best terroirs of the commune in 1980, and produced four vintages: Bouscassé, Vieilles Vignes, Menhir and Argile Rouge. The terroir of Bouscassé is composed of a collection of plots of fine yellow and white variegated clays resting on cracked limestone.
Alain Brumont's Pinot Noir comes from red and orange clay plateaus and slopes, with rolled pebbles. The sorted grapes are put into cold pre-fermentation maceration. After fermentation, maceration on the skins lasts 3 to 4 weeks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. The wine is aged in barrels , approximately 60% of which are new .
