Fever-Tree is a renowned British manufacturer specializing in premium craft soft drinks, founded in 2004 by Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow. The brand name comes from its flagship product: tonic water. This tonic water is delicately flavored with quinine, a natural alkaloid extracted from the bark of the South American cinchona tree. Originally, quinine was introduced in India as a pharmaceutical treatment to reduce fever related to malaria. To improve its bitter taste, it was mixed with sparkling water and a hint of sugar, giving birth to the first tonic water. In India, the cinchona tree is known as the "Fever Tree," literally "fever tree."
