Maison Bodet Herold - Les Greffiers - Brut Nature 2022
Maison Bodet-Herold Les Greffiers Brut Nature 2022 embodies one of the most precise and ambitious expressions of the current great sparkling wines of the Loire. Led by Étienne Bodet and Kim Herold, this house is part of an artisanal project focused on Loire bubbles, the purity of the fruit, and the reading of the Saumur terroirs. Étienne Bodet has a remarkable background, enriched by experiences with major winemakers such as Sylvain Pataille, Aurélien Gerbais, Bernard Baudry, Romain Guiberteau, and Clos Rougeard. This exacting standard is reflected in Les Greffiers, a Chenin Blanc cuvée conceived more as a terroir bubble than a simple festive wine. The 2022 vintage offers a bright, lively, and energetic expression in a Brut Nature style without artifice. The cuvée seduces with its balance between tension, fine mousse, and chalky depth. It is a rare sparkling wine in its approach, ideal for lovers of precise, dry, and gastronomic winemaker bubbles.
The Les Greffiers 2022 cuvée is made exclusively from Chenin Blanc, the king grape of the Loire and the ideal companion for great dry sparkling wines. The grapes come from a terroir located on a hillside, marked by marls and heavy Jurassic-origin clays. This soil nature gives the wine a deep structure, mineral tension, and a sense of uprightness that perfectly supports the absence of dosage. The vines, planted in 2015 according to available information, are cultivated organically by selected partner winemakers. Pressing is carried out delicately, preserving the finest juice fractions to maintain the brightness and precision of the Chenin. Fermentations by indigenous yeasts and aging on lees contribute to building a fine, elegant, and textured bubble. The choice of Brut Nature asserts a pure, dry, and mouthwatering style, where the wine directly expresses its fruit, soil, and energy.
In the glass, Maison Bodet-Herold Les Greffiers Brut Nature 2022 reveals a clear and luminous robe, animated by a fine and regular bubble. The nose opens on fresh apple, pear, white flowers, ripe lemon, and a slightly brioche note. The palate is straight, lively, and very elegant, with a delicate mousse that accompanies the natural tension of the Chenin. The absence of dosage gives a clean, dry, and mouthwatering finish without ever hardening the balance. There is a beautiful chalky, almost saline sensation that extends the wine and enhances its gastronomic character. This cuvée can be served as an aperitif but will reach its full dimension at the table with precise and refined dishes. It will ideally accompany oysters, raw fish, sushi, sea bass tartare, shellfish, fine poultry, fresh goat cheese, or citrus-based vegetable cuisine.
