The Mazeyres Threshold 2022
The 2022 Seuil de Mazeyres is the second wine of Château Mazeyres, an iconic Pomerol estate renowned for its biodynamic approach and refined style. Located on the fine gravel and clay soils of the Pomerol plateau, the vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir where Merlot and Cabernet Franc reach optimal maturity. Under the direction of Sylvie Vauthier, the estate produces precise, balanced wines imbued with purity.
The sunny and concentrated 2022 vintage produced wines of remarkable density, while preserving a mouth-watering freshness thanks to the living soils and meticulous work in the vineyard. Seuil de Mazeyres, made from young vines and specific plot selections, benefits from gentle vinification and measured barrel aging to preserve the fruit's brilliance.
The nose immediately seduces with its aromas of fresh red and black fruits, cherry, blackberry, raspberry, supported by notes of violet, vanilla and a hint of sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is supple, velvety and harmonious: the Merlot brings roundness and indulgence, while the Cabernet Franc infuses directness and length. The finish, fluid and elegant, stretches on notes of crisp fruits and light cocoa.
An accessible and refined Pomerol, the hallmark of a mastered terroir, to be enjoyed young or aged for a few years for added complexity. Serve between 16 and 17°C.
