François Mikulski - Meursault 2024
The Domaine François Mikulski is one of the most respected names in Meursault, in the Côte de Beaune, at the heart of Burgundy. Established with Marie-Pierre Mikulski, François Mikulski has built an immediately recognizable style, based on authenticity, purity, and elegance, three words that summarize the spirit of the estate. His wines are sought after for their precision, freshness, and ability to express the nuances of each terroir without excess oak or heaviness. The estate works parcels located in Meursault, but also in Volnay, Pommard, and Saint-Aubin, with an approach attentive to natural balances. The Meursault 2024 represents an essential cuvée of the range, as it offers a very accurate reading of the village and the Mikulski style. Made from several complementary lieux-dits, this white blends different expressions of Meursault Chardonnay. François Mikulski Meursault 2024 thus presents itself as a great village wine, precise, bright, and deeply Burgundian.
The Meursault 2024 cuvée is made from 100% Chardonnay, coming from emblematic parcels of the village such as Meix Chavaux, Les Pelles Dessus, Chaumes de Narvaux, Moulin Landin, Limozin, Pellans, and Tillets. These different origins are vinified separately, then blended to compose a complete, balanced, and representative Meursault of the appellation. The vines, averaging 35 years old, cover about 1.5 hectares and rest on a subsoil of fine scree rich in limestone pebbles. This geological composition gives the wine a clear mineral tension, a beautiful length, and a chalky sensation on the finish. The 2024 vintage seems to fit here into a particularly pure register, far from overly opulent Meursaults, with a broad mouth but held by fine acidity. The aging, in the style of the estate, supports the texture without masking the precision of the fruit or the expression of the limestone. This Meursault 2024 thus combines the maturity of Chardonnay, mineral energy, and the elegance of discreet aging.
On tasting, François Mikulski Meursault 2024 offers a bright pale yellow robe with delicate golden reflections. The nose may evoke ripe citrus, fresh pear, white peach, elderflower, almond, toasted hazelnut, and a subtle touch of warm brioche. On the palate, the wine is ample, precise, and very balanced, with a silky texture immediately carried by beautiful freshness. The limestone tension gives momentum and avoids any impression of heaviness, in a style more crystalline than buttery. The finish is long, chalky, and slightly saline, with persistence on citrus, iodine, white fruits, and fine hazelnut notes. This Meursault will ideally accompany seared scallops, a noble fish with beurre blanc, crustaceans, Bresse poultry with cream, morel risotto, or an aged goat cheese. It can be enjoyed after slight aeration but also has the necessary structure to evolve for several years in the cellar.
