Domaine Remoriquet - Hautes-Côtes de Nuits 2023
In Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Remoriquet perpetuates a family winemaking tradition dating back to the late 19th century. Established by Louis Remoriquet and developed over four generations, the vineyard now covers approximately 9.5 hectares, spread between Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Gilles Remoriquet, an oenologist by training, took over the estate in 1979 and, alongside Patricia Guenot, developed an approach based on deep knowledge of the soils and respect for natural balances. On the heights of the Côte de Nuits, the vineyards benefit from a cooler climate than the historic slopes, offering Pinot Noir particularly interesting conditions to preserve its aromatic liveliness. Jurassic limestone formations, combined with clay-limestone soils, contribute to the structure and personality of the wines. Certified High Environmental Value and Terra Vitis, the estate favors measured interventions and attentive viticulture to preserve its terroirs.
This Hautes-Côtes de Nuits 2023 comes from parcels located in the commune of Chaux, above Nuits-Saint-Georges, in a hillside environment where the altitude favors a gradual ripening of the grapes. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, it benefits from a generous vintage, marked by a warm summer and ripening conditions that allowed for expressive fruit. The harvest is done manually, with transport in small ventilated crates to preserve the integrity of the clusters, followed by a rigorous sorting upon arrival at the winery. After a short cold pre-fermentation maceration, the vinification continues with a maceration of about fifteen to twenty days, favoring a gentle extraction of aromatic compounds and tannins. The aging then lasts twelve to fourteen months, with one third in tanks and two thirds in oak barrels, about 10% of which are new wood. This distribution helps preserve the freshness of the fruit while adding more volume and depth to the texture. A light filtration precedes bottling, aiming to preserve the expression of the terroir.
The 2023 vintage presents a fruity and generous profile, where aromas of redcurrant, blackcurrant, and ripe cherry are accompanied by spicy nuances and delicately integrated oak. The deep ruby color announces a Pinot Noir with a certain concentration, without losing the finesse expected from its appellation. On the palate, the attack is soft, quickly extended by a velvety body and tannins that provide a well-defined structure. The natural freshness of the Hautes-Côtes balances the ripeness of the fruit and gives the wine a pleasant liveliness. Some notes of undergrowth and soft spices may appear with aging, gradually enriching its aromatic expression. Its gastronomic versatility allows it to accompany both roasted farm poultry and a pork tenderloin with mushrooms, a rack of lamb, or pressed cheeses. Already accessible after slight aeration, it has enough substance to evolve favorably over several years.
