Domaine Les Creisses - Les Creisses Rouge - Magnum 2024
The Domaine Les Creisses, located in Valros in the IGP Pays de l’Hérault, is an essential reference of modern Languedoc. A family property founded in the 19th century, it was taken over in 1998 by Philippe Chesnelong, who brought a new qualitative ambition to the estate. Accompanied by his cousin Louis Mitjavile, recognized for his mastery of vinifications and aging, he shapes structured and precise wines. The vineyard is managed with sustainable protection and benefits from the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification, with limited interventions adapted to the real needs of the vine. The estate extends over two distinct terroirs: Les Creisses, a stony clay-limestone plateau and hills of Villafranchian gravel, and Les Brunes, brown volcanic-origin soils. This geological diversity gives the wines depth, complexity, and balance.
The cuvée Les Creisses Rouge 2024 – Magnum is an emblematic blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Marselan, Alicante, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. The grapes are destemmed and then subjected to a long maceration of about 20 days, allowing extraction of color, structure, and aromatic richness. The aging, carried out between 12 and 18 months, refines the material and enhances the harmony of the whole. The 2024 vintage expresses a typically Languedocian sunny generosity, supported by a structured backbone reminiscent of some great Bordeaux wines. The Magnum format promotes a slower and more harmonious evolution, accentuating freshness and aging potential.
On tasting, Les Creisses 2024 reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruits, soft spices, licorice, and a subtly mentholated touch. The palate is ample, structured, with a dense but elegant tannic framework. The balance between power and freshness gives the wine a beautiful dynamism and a persistent finish. In Magnum, this cuvée gains depth and aging capacity, ideal for cellaring and grand tables. It will perfectly accompany grilled meats, stews, or generous Mediterranean cuisine.
