Domaine Elian Da Ros - Le Vin est une Fête 2025
Domaine Elian Da Ros is one of the major references of the Côtes du Marmandais, in Cocumont, in the Southwest, within a hilly vineyard located on the left bank of the Garonne. After working several years in Alsace, Elian Da Ros returned to his family lands and signed his first vintage in 1998, with the ambition to reveal an appellation that had long remained confidential. The estate now covers about 22 hectares of hillsides on gravel and clay-limestone terroirs, conducive to wines that are both fleshy, fresh, and expressive. The estate's vines have been farmed organically since 2000 and biodynamically since 2002, in an approach based on gentleness, observation, and respect for the grape. Le Vin est une Fête holds a special place in the range, as this pleasure cuvée favors fruit, suppleness, and accessibility. However, it includes grapes purchased from a winemaker friend, produced according to a strict specification, which explains the absence of organic certification for this cuvée. Domaine Elian Da Ros Le Vin est une Fête 2025 thus presents itself as a lively, generous, and convivial red, true to its name.
The Le Vin est une Fête 2025 cuvée is a blend of 40% Abouriou, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Merlot. Abouriou, a historic grape variety of the Marmandais, brings its local touch, crunchy red fruit, color, and a delicate tannic structure. Cabernet Franc enhances freshness, floral notes, aromatic drive, and the spicy dimension of the wine, while Merlot adds roundness, suppleness, and a more immediate fleshiness. The clay-silty terroir on a gray clay subsoil gives this cuvée a tender, accessible, and slightly fleshy profile. Vinification remains deliberately gentle, without strong extraction, to preserve the crunchy and round side of the grape. Merlot and Cabernet Franc are destemmed then vinified in open concrete tanks, while Abouriou is worked with whole clusters in semi-carbonic maceration. Aging for 10 months in large oak vats and used barrels, followed by one month in concrete tank, allows the fruit's freshness to be preserved while refining the texture.
On tasting, Domaine Elian Da Ros Le Vin est une Fête 2025 shows a bright, luminous, and youthful red robe. The nose may evoke sour cherry, raspberry, redcurrant, small red fruits, violet, sweet pepper, and a touch of fresh herbs. On the palate, the wine is supple, juicy, and very digestible, with a tender body and an immediate expression of fruit. The tannins remain delicate, supported by a light but sufficient structure to accompany food. The whole favors drinkability, freshness, and pleasure, without seeking concentration or power. The finish is fruity, spicy, and savory, with a strong desire to return to the glass. This red from the Côtes Marmandaises will ideally accompany an aperitif with friends, a charcuterie board, roasted poultry, a grilled piece of beef, stuffed vegetables, or generous bistro cuisine.
